Lucan Minor Hockey

Welcome to 09/10 Season!

Welcome to another season of hockey!  I trust that everyone had an enjoyable summer and that you are now ready for the return to the rink!  As always, I’m looking forward to the season ahead.  Lucan Minor Hockey will be proud of the teams we will field this year.  Some will be more successful than others, but through it all the team experience our players have and the lessons they learn on the ice, the friendships they develop will create memories for them that will stay with them throughout all they do.  I know our teams will represent us well and I’m anxious to watch our seasons unfold!

See you at the rink!

Cathy Burghardt-Jesson

Keys to the Coaches’ Room!  Anyone who signed for a key last year and hasn’t returned it, please do so during the first week of tryouts (at registration table).  Keys will be re-issued at the coaches meeting.

After listening to many constructive comments about our socks, we have decided to go with one style of sock for our uniforms.  We will be using only the dark green version of socks for both home and away.  The sock resembles the same sock as last year, however we have secured a new supplier and this is a higher quality sock then the socks we have used during the past few seasons.

Just a quick note about our gate fees, these fees help to offset the cost of refereeing in our centre.  While it may be convenient for you to use the side doors of the arena to drop your player off, please be mindful of paying the gate fee, either by going through the front gate (which we all should be doing), or going back to the gate after dropping your player off and paying the gate fee.  We appreciate your adherence and respect of our gate fee policy.  Family Season passes are available.

We have made some changes to our website over the summer.

Please refer to www.lucanminorhocky.net beginning September 1st

for ice schedules, minutes and financial information pertaining to

LMH and up-to-date contact information for our Executive.

As we all know our association has been faced with lack of availability of ice during the past few seasons.  Our registration numbers continue to rise and that has put pressure on our schedule.  This year we have decided that we are contracting early morning ice.  We will be scheduling practices three mornings a week at 7am.  This will affect our Novice, Atom and PeeWee level teams.  The teams affected will be involved in a rotating schedule that will be clearly defined by your coaches in September.  The schedule will be laid out well in advance so that you can make appropriate arrangements for your player and your own work commitments.  We understand and respect that this arrangement may cause inconvenience in the initial stages until routine is established.  I am very confident that sharing driving responsibilities with team mates, coaches and relatives and that with enough forward planning we can make this work.  As an Executive, we stand behind this schedule as we believe it is a more workable option than spending weekends driving between Lucan, St. Marys and Exeter which has been our solution the last couple of seasons.  This solution is also economically responsible, as ice costs at that time are significantly reduced.  Any concerns/questions may be directed to Cathy Jesson and/or David Landers.
