Five for Five!!
At the Walter Gretzky tournament in Brantford this past weekend, our girls showed why they truly are the 'little team that could' winning their second tournament as a BB team and their fifth tournament of the year! Congratulations Girls!

Although we had a bit of a shaky start to the weekend, tying Oshawa 2-2, the girls picked up their game for the rest of the tournament, winning the next 4 games against teams with a third more players on their rosters.
Our second game came against the Burlington Barracudas.  Scoring first, the girls held off some close scoring chances in the first and second periods, deflating the confidence of their opponent and ending the game with a 9-0 victory.  In the evening game against Brantford, the girls came out flying, peppering the goalie with innumerable shots. It took some pretty passing and some hard work in front of the net to best Brantford's very strong net minder.  Although Lucan owned two thirds of the play, we eeked out a 2-1 win, with Hailey Pfaff making a gaming saving stop on a breakaway in the final minutes of the game to preserve the win and carry us to the semi finals.  On Sunday morning, we played Flamborough in the semis.  Again, our girls carried the play, which was reflected in the 4-0 score, giving us the opportunity to meet Waterloo in the finals.

The Waterloo Ravens were a formidable opponent, with 15 strong skaters and 2 goalies.  Our team of 10 skaters and one goalie out forchecked, out back checked, out passed, out goaltended their opponents for most of the game coming away with a strong 2-0 team win. The mvp of the finals was Mackenzee VanHooydonk.

Congratulations, girls!!  Lets's show BAD girls what we've got and go for number 6!
