A busy couple of weeks
Lucan's Tyke Gold team has had a busy couple of weeks around Christmas, with a loss to the tough South Huron Sabres 1 team, on Dec. 22, and splitting a two-game day on Dec. 29, with a win and a loss.
The team has encountered some stiffer opposition in the past couple of weeks compared to the teams it defeated to compile its winning record early in the season.

Tyke Gold worked hard against the Sabres 1 team, but ended up behind against the Sabres smooth-skating attack and strong goaltending.
Ryder O got a goal past the Sabres goalie for the Tyke Gold's goal for the game.
Sadie L. made some strong saves in the Lucan net.
Ben F. was the SuperSport player of the game for Tyke Gold for his strong defensive play.
On Dec. 29, the team played a morning game against its practice mates - Lucan Tyke White. It was a fun and highly competitive game, with both teams showing their skating abilities and how much they have learned and developed so far this year.
Dylan F. scored a hat trick to lead Tyke White, with Mackenzie H. picking up a couple of assists.
Tyke White opened up a two goal lead early in the game, but then Tyke Gold responded with three goals, the first by Ryder O., the second on a rebound banged in by Mitchell B., and the third by Dylan S. on a pass from Ryder O. Tyke White tied the game with about 8 minutes to go, but Ryder O. got his second of the game with five minutes to go to give Tyke Gold the lead they held onto for the rest of the game.
Aiden M. made some great saves for Tyke Gold in his first of two games in net on the 29th.
Luke A. stopped numerous Tyke Gold attacks in the Tyke White net and was especially good at smothering loose pucks around him.
Ryder O. was the SuperSport player of the game for Tyke Gold.
Later in the day on the 29th, Tyke Gold took on Lambton Shores Black, and the two games in a day resulted in some very tired hockey players by the end of the game.
Lambton Shores came out strong with three goals in the first shift which set Lucan Tyke Gold back early. The fresh Lambton Shores kids broke away from the fast Lucan players to score on several break aways.
Aiden M. made several nice saves during his second game in net for the day.
Tyke Gold came on strong later in the game, with four goals, including two in short order by Mitchell B. on a nice breakaway and another by Katie D. on a rebound, but it wasn't enough to pull back the Lambton Shores lead. Ryder O. also scored two goals in the game. Mitchell B., Kaiden W. and Sadie L. also had assists.
Mitchell B. had some nice defensive plays including a couple of blocked shots, and gave a strong effort all game and so was the SuperSport player of the game.
Tyke Gold will now have a week to rest up before its next game.
