A nice win in Lambton Shores
Lucan Tyke Gold split two games on the weekend of Feb. 9 and 10 with a loss against South Huron 1 and a strong win against Lambton Shores Red.

Lucan Tyke Gold appears to have benefited from a series of games against the strong South Huron teams and came into the game on Sunday against Lambton Shores with some great speed, both offensively and defensively.
Ryder O scored two quick goals to get Lucan Gold on the scoreboard. A third goal, this one by Sadie L. put Lucan strongly out front.
Lambton Shores scored to keep the game close at several points during the game, but some excellent backchecking by the Lucan players kept their opportunities in check.
Lucan players have shown that they can now take on some of the league's top offensive players and work hard to check them and keep them from getting shots.
Ben F., Tyler L. and Gilvan G-C. all worked to keep some Lambton Shores players to the outside as they were attacking the Lucan zone, resulting in few and poorer shots.
Grace C. made some great saves in the Lucan net, stopping a couple of breakaways with nice pad saves, and doing a timely job of wacking the puck away from her net with her stick.
Grayson P. scored his first regular season goal of the year on a nice shot from in front of the Lambton Shores net to put Lucan ahead 6-4, and give the team some breathing room.
Katie D. was her usual speedy force, scoring a goal. She was the Super Sport of the game. Ryder O had two other goals, and Mitchell B. rounded out the scoring with two nice late goals, to put Lucan up by four goals at the end of the game.
The game set a good tone for the team moving into the Lambton Shores tournament next weekend.
On Saturday, the team traveled to the Stephen Township arena for a game against South Huron 1. Despite a score strongly in the South Huron favour, Lucan played well, showing that the team can skate with the big, fast players from South Huron.
The game included some excitement, including a brief power outage which played havoc with the time clock.
Lucan scored three goals against South Huron, its highest total against a South Huron team this season. Goals were scored by Tyler L. and Ryder O. and the referees didn't give a Lucan goal scorer on a goal in which a South Huron player put his own goalie and puck into his own net. Tyler L. was the Super Sport of the game.
