Trip to Mount Brydges to Challenge the Cougars
On Saturday January 4th your Tyke Green took to the snow covered roads to challenge the Mount Brydges Cougars Gold at home.

From the drop of the puck it was clear that the christmas break was over and we were ready to get down to business. Our first scoring chance came from a defensive zone break out play with a bank off the boards by Nate V. who managed to skate hard past the cougars "D"and get in alone on the cougars goalie with a quick wrist shot to put us on the score sheet first.

After that we found out that "Offsides" and "Face-off" circles were in play (something that we have not practiced) so with a couple of quick lessons to your tyke green we managed to adapt and attempt to play with in the new rules that were thrown at them.

Cougar offensive opportunities did not come often but when they did we managed to collapse on the puck to perfection and very rarely allow them to get shots on our goalie Cohen S. who managed to stop most of the shots that did come his way.

Our next couple of goals came from one Lane H. the first came off a neutral zone pass from Drew K. up the middle to send Lane in alone allowing him to score. Lanes next goal would not have been possible if it had not been for Josselyn V. Christian F. and Colin W. who worked hard in front of the cougars net and Lane was fortunate enough to bank a shot off the cougars Defender past the goalie.

Back in our own zone we were up for the defensive challenge, Owen C., Spencer R. and Kyle V. all managed to work hard behind our net and also work hard along the boards to ensure the puck was cleared not allowing  the cougars to get on the score sheet until late in the game.

Some outstanding play by Cash M. and  Presley B. with break away rushes created chances close in front for their teammates Claire W. narrowly missed the net in a stick on the ice play that was eventually finished off by Drew K. who found the net for his first of the game after he was turned away by the post earlier in the game.

With time winding down Lane H. found the back of the net once again for his third of the game.

At the end of the horn we were able to chalk another notch in the win column.

For his hard nose defensive efforts and neutral zone play Owen C. was rewarded with the player of the game. Keep up the good work Owen.

Out next Game Two Games are a Home and Home series against the Mount Brydges Cougars Red.
