Round 1!!
On saturday we played our first of a home and home series against the Mount Brydges Cougars Red.
With a full squad on the bench we looked and sounded like we were ready to go and wet were. From the first face off it was all Tyke green as we worked on our Passing from the neutral and defensive zone up the to allow offensive pressure. Getting things started was Nate V. who managed to pocket the first of the game with an assist going to Presley B. who managed to guard the puck throughout the offensive zone and drive the net allowing Nate to Pocket a quick one.
Next we saw a Cougar rush back to our zone But you just can't beat hustle with hard skating from Christian F. and Ethan H. they managed to stop the Cougars before they could manage to get a shot off protecting their goalie. Our goalie for the day was the Tower of Power Spencer R. who looked up to the task of stopping the cougars in their tracks.
Next shift we got to see the face off powers of one Owen C. who stood strong at centre ice and fought hard for the puck allowing us to gain the zone after a couple of great chances in front by Claire W. we saw Colin W. pocket his second goal of the season with some hard work in front of the net an assist on the goal went to Drew K.
Shortly after that goal we were in tough in our zone and the cougars managed to pocket a couple of goals of their own and took the lead by a goal.
Not Ready to quit yet we saw the face off specialist Josselyn V. take centre ice with determination and win a face off that managed to spring Cash M. on breakaway tying the game back up. With the game back in toe we looked to take the lead with an offensive rush by Kyle V. we saw a swarm of Green and White attack the net. With many scoring chances in one play that were continuously turned away by the Cougars stellar goal tending Lane H. managed to grab a loose puck and find the back of the net allowing us to regain our 1 goal lead.
After a couple more cougar chances resulting in goals albeit not for our lack of defensive effort and outstanding skating by your Tyke Green we saw our selves down by a few. But that no quit Tyke Green Machine attitude we saw some hard work and Power skating by Cohen S. skate past the Cougars defence and score glove side putting us only down by one.
With time winding down it appeared that this game would not end in our favour.
Afterwards the Player of the Game was awarded to Drew K. with an assist and a No quit Defensive attitude that is becoming a treat to watch. Great Job Drew keep up the Great Work.
This saturday join us as we visit the Cougars Red for the Rematch. ROUND 2!
