Round 2!!!
On Saturday morning your Tyke Green Traveled to Mount Brydges for the second game of our home and home series against the Cougars Red.
With with an already short bench we got word that we would be down a couple more players due to the flu (hope you guys get better soon) we took to the ice with only 9 skaters.
Before we made our way onto the ice the coaching staff made a huge request and asked your tyke green to take turns double shifting during the game and without hesitation your tyke green answered the call and told us that they were all up to the task.
From our first face off win it was clear the we were ready to work hard, exchanging offensive rushes with the cougars we found our selves down by one goal quickly, but with our defence was quick to settle down and we were able to turn on that Tyke Green hustle that you have grown to know and love and get back into our end and help out our Goalie. Our Goalie for the day was Josselyn V. who required a quick equipment change prior to the drop of the puck but settled in and worked hard to turn away multiple Cougar Changes and directing the puck to the corner to allow your Irish defence to quickly clear the zone. Great Job Josselyn.
Starting us off on the score sheet was Nate V. with some great team work from Kyle V. and Cohen S. we managed to score a quick one and tie the Game back up. Next Goal of the Game Came from Drew K. who managed to score on a quick shot in the slot assists went to Presley B. and Owen C.
Next we saw the quick feet and quiker hands of Cohen S. with his first of 4 goals on the day with a break out pass from Ethan H. to Spencer R. who banked the puck of the boards to Cohen who made no mistake finding the back of the net.
Our next goal came on a Cougars clearing attempt when Nate V. stopped the puck at the neutral zone and walk in a buried a shot for his second of the Game. Next we saw Cohen S. once again take the puck and walk in untouched and pocket a goal of short side.
After a flurry of offensive rushes we found ourselves needing to skate hard to stop some cougar opportunities, some our outstanding defensive plays were made by both Lane H. who stopped the cougars 4 times and Managed to clear the puck. Other great defensive plays went to both Drew k. and Ethan H.
Turning back the other way we saw a passing play that was text book from Spencer R. and Cohen S. over the Nate V. who finished off play for his THIRD goal of the game. With the cougars coming back hard trying to squeeze back into the game we saw Cohen S. score two more goals with assists going to four separate players Nate V. , Spencer R. Ethan H, and Lane H.
At the end of the game it was we managed to Split the home and home series and win our rematch.
For those of you who were keeping Track not only did we have multiple players with multi point games during this game Cohen S. (6) Nate V.(4) Ethan H. (2) and Spencer R. (3) we also managed to get ALL of our skaters on to the score sheet for the first time this season . Great Team effort Guys.
For his Three point game Spencer R. was rewarded with the player of the game. Great Job Spencer
Next week we play 2 Games one at home against East Lambton Eagles and away against the Strathroy Rockets.
