3 Game Recap.
2 games in Strathroy and one in Belmont there is lots of news to be told.
On Sunday January 26 the day after our game against East Lambton was snowed out your Tyke Green took to the roads to challenge the Strathroy Rockets Red, at Home.
This was Close game right up to the end. Kyle V. was up the to task of standing in net for us allowing the game to stay close. This was a see saw affair that saw both teams exchange goals.
Finding ourselves down by two quick goals Cohen S. pocketed his first of four on the day with assists going to Josselyn V.(her first of 2 on the day)and Spencer R. (his first of 2 on the day)
Next we saw some scoring form Nate V. who managed to out wait the opposing teams goalie allowing him to pocket a goal (his first of 3 on the day) tying the game back up. Assists on the goal went to Christian F.
With the Game getting away from us and with time running down Cohen S. managed to score 2 quick goals the Game tying and the game winning goal allowing us to come out on top with the win.
Additional assist to all the goals that were scored today went to Cohen S., Claire W. (with 2), Presley B. (with 2) and Lane H. (with 3).
For all his hard work on both offence and defence Christian F. was awarded with the player of the game. Great Job Christian.
On February 1 we took to the road once again and found our selves taking on the Belmont Rangers.
This was an outstanding game that every one of our players should be proud of we were up against a tough team, but we played with the heart and determination that only your tyke green could.
In net for your tyke green was one Nate V. who managed to stop more rubber than is made a 3M. Standing on his head stopping shot after shot for the majority of the game, allowing to to keep pace with the rangers for the first 25 mins of the game.
Outstanding offensive and defence of zone play was had by all but stand out players on the day were Owen C. who played a great neutral zone game, Claire W. who fought hard for the puck and cleared the zone at any chance.Colin W. was keen in offensive zone ready to pounce on any rebound opportunity. Christian F. continued his stellar play from the week before and was a big part of the game. Ethan H. also played an outstanding game in our zone back checking any stepping up into the play stopping those Ranger players.
At the end of the game we were not on the winning side of the score sheet, but all of your Tyke Green players should be proud of how they played!
For Both of there play during the Game players of the Game was awarded to Claire W. and Nate V. great work guys.
February 2 saw your Tyke Green travel back once again to Strathroy to take on the Blue Rockets.
Once again in net for us was Nate V. and was edger to play and help out again, and he was once again on his game allowing only 2 goals during the whole game.
Forechecking and back checking were things that your Tyke Greens have been learning and starting to excel at. Had it not been for this newly learned ability this game was sure to have had a different outcome.
Getting things started was one Drew K. who took a pass from Ethan H. walking in and shooting it under the goalies left pad. putting us up by one goal. After allowing the Rockets back into the game we found ourselves down by one goal. Turing on your backing checking switch we saw outstanding back checking from Cash M. Kyle V. Drew K. and Ethan H.
With 11 mins left in the Game Cohen S. took the puck of the boards and walked in a shot the puck past the goalie, he would later in the same shift take a pass from Spencer R. and burry his second of the Game, which proved to be the game winner.
For his back checking offensive rushes and great play along the boards Lane H. was awarded with the player of the Game. Great job Lane.
