Lucan Tyke Gold
Lucan Tyke Gold were back in action this past weekend as we travelled to Point Edward Saturday and hosted Ilderton on Sunday.

February has been busy for Team Gold and the boys and girls were anxious to finish off the month on a high note.

In Point Edward Saturday, our Forwards John Robson, Sofie Pearn, Emma Genttner, Kohen Wickens and Ethan Lambourn each had a chance to play all three forward positions and take turns double shifting. The boys and girls thrived on the extra ice time, galloping after loose pucks and generating good chances in the Blackhawks end. Our Defensemen for this game were Brycen “The Brick Wall” Watson, Roman Chalmers and Lachlan Gilcrest. The boys on the back end played their usual shut down defensive game, while also contributing offensively with Brycen and Roman each notching a nice goal.

Colin Dalton was back in the crease for Team Gold and played superb, anticipating shots and pouncing on rebounds like ferocious cat! Team Gold found themselves down by a goal in the dying minutes but worked furiously trying to tie score. The boys and girls had numerous terrific chances trickle just agonizingly wide of the Blackhawk net, allowing the home team to hang on for the win.

For his good positioning on the back end, great reads and continuously knocking the puck off the opposing players sticks, Lachlan was awarded the Positional Player of the Game! For his hustle in all three zones, determination and eagerness, Kohen was awarded the Hockey Hall of Fame Ambassador of the Game! Great job Lachlan & Kohen, keep up the good work!

Back on home ice Sunday morning, Team Gold hosted the Blue Jets from Ilderton, who came to town with guns blazing. Lucan iced the same lineup as we had Saturday, so our fabulous Forwards Emma Genttner, Ethan Lambourn, John Robson, Sofie Pearn and Kohen Wickens again had a chance to play all three positions and take turns double shifting. There were a lot of requests to play Center, and each player seemed to kick it into overdrive when their number was called to take on that opportunity & responsibility. Our dynamic Defensemen Brycen Watson, Roman “The Soldier” Chalmers and Lachlan Gilcrest played rock solid again, snuffing out Ilderton rushes, clearing our zone and holding the offensive blue line with an iron grip.
This game started out a bit more in Team Gold’s favour on the score board as Kohen, Sofie and company staked the home side to an early lead. The boys and girls kept up the pressure all game and were making some pretty passing plays. For his part in net, Colin Dalton played perhaps his best game yet, saving breakaways, high shots and just about everything else that the Jets threw at him! This game was an all-around great team effort and Lucan was rewarded with the win.
For her work in the corners and in the slot, and always hustling back to help our defense, Sofie was awarded the Positional Player of the Game! For his terrific work in net, determination and contagious enthusiasm, Colin was awarded the Hockey Hall of Fame Ambassador of the Game! Great job Sofie & Colin, keep up the outstanding work!
Team Gold’s next game action this coming Saturday morning as we play host to Lambton Shores, and Sunday when we travel to Strathroy to take on the Rockets. Go Gold Go!
