Gord Hymers Novice Tournament
With a quick drive to Listowel, your Lucan Novice rep boys were locked, loaded and ready to roll for their first game of the Gord Hymers Novice Tournament.

Our first appoint of the day was Wallace from the WOAA league, unsure what to expect the boys came out flying scoring a goal in the first 5 mins and didn't look back, we ended up winning 7-3. Player of the game honours went to Will M. with a 3 point game and Weston G. ended up with a Hat Trick award.

With only a 1 hour break in-between games a quick standard dance party along with our sour key tournament ritual the boys were back on the ice to face off against Walkerton.  With the short break the boys had some heavy legs, we kept the game close for the first two periods, but after an intermission and a inspirational video the boys came out in the third period with their blades on fire. Lucan Shut down Walkterton and didn't allow a goal for the remainder of the game. With our goalie pulled and the extra attacker we threw everything but the kitchen sink at their goalie but couldn't manage to find the back of the net. The 4-3 loss secured us a spot in the "B" final.  The player of the game award went to Cohen S.

Next up we got to watch both Jack. B dawn the pads for the Shoot out with Grayson P. our Defensive specialist take to the ice as a shooter in the shoot out challenge.   Both did exceptionally well, and did the Lucan Irish proud in their efforts.

Our last game of the day was against Dresden a familiar foe, whom just came of a win vs the eventual "A" final champs.  Our boys were ready early and chomping at the bit to get on the ice.  Loud and proud the boys tore on to the ice ready to go. At roughly the 5 min mark of the 1st period the switch flipped and we scored our first of 6 goals in the game.  Great defensive plays coupled with remarkable passing plays your boys drove the puck deep into the dresden zone and didn't let it out. Each one of our 6 goals was accompanied by 2 assists giving our team 18 points in one game.  Two of said previous assists came off both pad and face mask saves of our goalie one Jack B. with his stellar play solidified him as player of the game. Once the buzzer sounded we found our selves winning the Game 6-1 to finish the tournament as "B" Champs!

After the Game was done and prior to our trophy being handed out the tournament officials had an unexpected surprise for us, we were given the Most Mannerly Team Award.

Boys your coaching staff cannot begin to express to you how proud we are all of you.  Every Day and every practice you managed to exceed every one of our expectations. We could not of asked to be surrounded by a better group of kids.

Congratulations Boys!!
