Lucan Peewee LM win Georgian Shores tournament
The Lucan Peewee LM team repeated as champions of the Georgian Shores tournament, with a 2-1 overtime win in the final against St. Marys.

0.jpgThe final was an exciting game, with Lucan controlling much of the play and outshooting St. Marys at the Beaver Valley Community Centre in Thornbury. The Lucan team had several powerplays in the game, but couldn’t gain the winning goal during regulation time. Players and fans erupted when Tyler L picked the top corner 17 seconds into overtime to win it for Lucan 2-1.
The final capped four games of strong team play, characterized by the tenacious forechecking and backchecking and aggressive pressure from the mobile defence that the team is known for.
The team started the tournament against St. Marys with a close 4-3 win. The second and third games gave the players a chance to showcase the team’s balanced and strong offence.
The Lucan team defeated Georgian Shores 8-2 and Burford 6-0 on its way to the final on Sunday.
Goalies Lachlan P and Gilvan G-C allowed a stingy six goals in four games.
The team played some of its best hockey of the season, with sustained speed, precise passing and strong defence that allowed it to pull away from most teams in the tournament. The team was able to maintain its concentration and intensity despite some off-ice distractions during the tournament.
Congratulations to the Peewee LM player for a strong team-wide effort.
