Our Lucan U13B Girls Team has been battling Teams from across the region hard over the last several weeks in Playdown and Playoff action.
Our Girls fell short in very tough Playdown loop, finishing with a record of 3 Wins and 2 Loses.
Our Team is still going strong in the Best of the Best League Playoffs. Our Girls finished first overall in our 12 Team Division with an amazing record of 20 Wins, 1 Tie and 1 Loss, good for 41 points.
In our first round series we played a very strong Bluewater Hawks Team. Game one resulted in a 1-1 tie, Lucan took Game two 2-0, and had home ice for the pivotal Game three. Bluewater scored very late in regulation time to earn the win, forcing a 10-minute 4on4 Overtime period to decide the series. Neither Goalie flinched in Overtime, so a six-player shootout was needed. Lucan's Goalie put on an amazing shootout clinic, staring down and stopping all six Bluewater shooters she faced! Lucan won the very exciting shootout 1-0, and took the series 4 points to 3.
Up next in round two was the Chatham Crush, who had finished 2nd in the league standings and also a very strong Team. In Game one, Lucan's Defense, superb Goaltending and timely scoring came together to earn a narrow 1-0 win. Game two was even more tight, with neither Goalie blinking, ending in 0-0 tie. Lucan headed into hostile territory for a deciding Game three, needing just one more point to secure the series win. However, with the Crush's backs against the wall, they threw everything they had left at our Team, taking a 1-0 lead late into the final period. With extra time looming ever closer,
Lucan's second year veterans delivered some late game scoring heroics! First to tie the game, then give Lucan the lead in the dying minutes as the crowd & bench went wild! Lucan added an empty netter and skated away with the series win.
Up next is the Southwest versus West Division Final, Lucan versus Woolwich, with the winner advancing to Toronto in the Best of the Best Finals. Game one of this series is in Lucan Friday, March 24th at 7pm, with a deciding game three (if necessary) back in Lucan on Monday, March 27th at 7:30pm.
