The Green Machine is going strong
Lucan travelled to Komoka and Mt. Brydges this weekend to take on team Red and team Black.

The coaches could tell from when the kids were getting dressed that they were ready to play.  Lucan Green played by far their best game of the year this night.  Green got off to a slow start finding themselves down 2-0 three minutes into the game.  After that, this was a complete domintation by Lucan.  Carter H. got Lucan started with a great goal on a nice pass from Tyler F.  Lucan would tie the game on a super pass from Joel M. to Dylan F. who made no mistake and knotted the game at two.  Lucan would then completely own the second period with 4 unanswered goals.  Dylan F.(3), and Tyler F. scored the goals with assists going to Carter L., Carson V., Mason G., and Bobby M,   The coaches have been working with the team to play there positions and win the battles against the other team and today the team took it to the next level.  They were swarming the other team stealing the puck from them and passing to each other.  Great teamwork.  Tyler F. would score one more goal and at the final buzzer would win the game 7-2.  Not enough can be said about this team effort.  Defense held the Red team in check all game.  The duo of Carson V. and Bobby M. completely shut them down.  Joel M., Carter L. Dylan F. and Aiden M.  were also up to the task stopping the team.  Both set of defense were also a big part of the offense making great passes up to the forwards.  Up front the forwards were winning the battles and taking the puck to the net.  James V. was on his game. He played a very good game and was always in the right position.  Player of the game went to Tyler F. who had 2 goal and an assist but it was the back checking and battles he won that got him this honour.  Great work Ty.

Saturday morning Lucan was back to take on Mt. Brydges Black.  Black is the top team in the league and the team that beat our squad 7-1 in the first game of the year.  Lucan was going to show Black just how much they have improved and did they ever.  If Friday's night game was the best of the year, this one was better.  Right from the drop of the puck Lucan was all over the strong Black team, again win the battles and everyone was playing their positions.  Black would get on the board first, but Lucan would tie it up with 9 second left in the period.  Carter L. took the puck to the net fired the shot and Dylan F. jumped on the rebound.  Lucan would take the lead on a play similiar to the first goal, Carter L. would again take the puck to the net with Dylan F. banging in the rebound.  Black responded quickly and the game was tied at 2.  With 25 seconds left in the second period Black would take the lead 3-2.  Lucan would not give up and took the game back to the Black team, buzzing all over the ice winning battles and clearing the net.  Defense was big in this game.  Carson V., Bobby M. Aiden M.  and Joel M. were on their game again limiting the chances of Black.  James V. was again manning the pipes and had another stellar game making a ton of key saves.

The third period would see Lucan continue their strong play and was able to tie the game back up yet again Dylan F. would get the puck to the net with Carter L. lighting the lamp.  Lucan would get a couple more chances but was unable to beat the strong goalie for Mt. Brydges Black.  With a minute left number 4 from Black would break free and score the game winning goal.  Lucan deserved a better fate for all there hard work but can take many positives away from this game.  They were down in both games somettimes by a couple goals and they did not give up, they fought hard the entire game and were very competitive against one of the best teams in the league.  Amazing work team!  Player of the game for Lucan was Carter L. scoring a goal and assisting on two others, another great game Carter!

Lucan will continue next week with another game in Mt. Brydges, this time against the Gold team.
