U13A Girls Silver Stick Finalists 23/24
U13A Lucan Irish were also in Sarnia Jan 5-7th, 2024 for Silver Stick. The team finished 1st after pool play undefeated with a record of 2-0-2. The semi-final game against South Huron has to break some sort of record. Game tied 1-1 after regulation sent the game to OT. No decision after 5 mins of 4 on 4 hockey and no decision after a further 5 mins of 3 on 3. The teams continued to play almost 8 more 5 min 3 on 3 overtime periods with Lucan scoring near the end of the 10th OT period!!! (Shout out to the parents/fans for getting through that one).
After an unbelievable
92 minute semi final victory, the girls found themselves in a rematch against Stoney Creek for the final. These teams tied on Friday and despite playing a lot of extra hockey, Lucan kept it close. They fought to the end and narrowly missed out with a final score of 2-1.
Way to represent the Irish with toughness and perseverance that might not ever be matched. Be proud of that Finalist banner. Congratulations Team!!
