** Updates from Hockey Canada, OHF, and OMHA continue to impact programming for the 2025-2026 and your Executive are spending a significant amount of time navigating these changes in order to be prepared for the season in just 4 days.
As more clarification is received we will provide updates to this post. Anything material will be emailed to all registered U8/U9 OMHA players.
It is also worth noting that this is a PILOT project for the 2025/2026 season by OMHA only.
(Note: at this time we don’t expect any impacts/changes to OWHA programming)
Schedule
- Three prep skates will be provided to ALL LUCAN players regardless if players are intending to tryout for U9 MD with AVHA or play Lucan LMLL
- AVHA U9 tryouts for MD1 and MD2 are still pending finalization
- LMH will run 3 evaluation skates for all players intending to play Lucan LMLL this season in order to create 4 balanced teams
- All players unsuccessful at making MD1/MD2 will return to play Lucan LMLL and will be placed evenly across the teams by leveraging AVHA evaluation scores
- Teams will be targeted to be made by mid-September
MD1/MD2 Development Phase / Full-Ice Eligibility
- Teams selected in the fall: 60-day development phase starts the day after final team selections
- Teams selected in the spring (not applicable to LMH / AVHA): 60-day development phase starts September 2
- Shamrock League: League play will commence November 15th with the requirement being that a team must be named at least 60 days prior. (Delays in naming the MD1/MD2 team will delay the start of games)
Player Eligibility
- U8 players are eligible to try out for U9 MD and make the team with the requirement being that the player meets the AVHA Exceptional Status criteria
- AVHA Exceptional Status is pending board approval on Sept 2; however notional idea can be assumed from the current U10-U18 exceptional status within the by-laws
- Exceptional Status is only applicable for the MD1 team
- MD2 team can be comprised of U8 and U9 players with a max composition not exceeding 50% U8 players
General
- Tryout sign-up and fees will be payable to AVHA and are non-refundable
- There are NO fees for development and only LMH registered players can attend LMH ice
- There are NO fees for evaluation skates for LMLL players
