Goals this year
Welcome Parents
I would just like to take an opportunity to speak to the parents of the Atom L/M to highlight my goals for the hockey club this year.
GOALS
1. To engage the boys in practice and make it fun for them so they will want to come to every practice and game. (If you never have to hear but I don't feel like going to hockey it will be mission accomplished).
2. To build up your sons confidence in his skills and himself through sport.
3. To build a sense of team with your boys.
Areas of Concentration
1. Getting the puck out of our end. We will be working very hard on breaking out of our own end. (This is crucial because if the puck is not in our end, it is not in our net)
2. Positioning - I hope to reinforce this and have your son aware of his area on the ice and what his responsibilities are.
3. Passing - We will be working very hard at this getting the boys to use the whole ice (positioning) and moving the puck.
Attending practice will be crucial as I hope to build on skills from one practice to another. They say one practice is equivalent to 11 games in the amount of time that your son handles the puck. Please ensure that he is there and ready to go on the ice as soon as the zamboni is off. I try to run structured practices and maximize every minute of ice.
