Our Lucan U11 Girls Team participated in the London Devilettes Tournament on Feb 4-6.
It was a great way to return to game action & restart the season! Our Girls faced Woolwich, Stoney Creek and Georgina in the round robin, finishing with a 3-0 record atop our division! With Ava standing tall in net and our stingy Defense on their toes, we kept the opponents off the board. And our Forwards were firing on all cylinders, relentless on the offense!
Our Girls kept up the pace in the semi-final game vs. St. Thomas, winning a hard-fought match to earn a birth in the final versus our highway 4 rivals, South Huron. The final game was a defensive battle, with both Goalies taking center stage, making save after save on terrific chances at both ends. Regulation time ended deadlocked at 0-0, as well as two extremely exciting overtime periods, pushing this one to a shootout. South Huron were finally able to squeak one in to earn the win.
A fantastic showing by our Lucan Girls to earn the Silver Medals! And congratulations to South Huron on their Gold Medals! A great weekend of hockey for our Team.
League Playoffs and Provincial qualifiers are up next for our Girls in the coming weeks - more exciting games to come!!
