Welcome players and parents to the Lucan Irish U11 Tier 1 Tryouts.
My name is Rod Adamthwaite and I will be the head coach for the upcoming 2025-2026 season. I have been coaching in Lucan for the past 7 years and the past 12 years in minor hockey at various age groups ranging from U18 boys rep all the way down U5. I have been around the game my entire life, playing for the past 35+ years at all levels, including AAA in London as well as running summer development camps for the past four years.
Your daughter will be part of a team first mentality and strive to ensure they are working together, rather than individual play/achievements. With high paced, up tempo practice plans, girls are put into as close to game-like situations as they can, ensuring they are prepared for all the challenges they will face.
I believe it is imperative to build on the solid foundation that has already been taught, continuing to focus on skill development and strengthening skating while incorporating more structure. The foundation skills like agility, edge-work, shooting, passing, and stick-handling will be progressively introduced and increased in difficulty as the year unfolds.
The coaching staff will be committed to creating an environment where the girls enjoy coming to the rink and build upon their love for the game.
