Mite White
Team Mite White has been busy practicing hard & tearing up the ice so far this season.

All of those early season practices paid off as we began our regular season. Our first game vs. Mite Green gave the kids their taste of wearing their Lucan Jersey & game action and left them hungry for more! Aiden S was named player of the game for his hard work, encouraging his teammates and always positive attitude.

Team White played a home-and-home versus Parkhill in early December. Both games were wide open offensive affairs with chances and goals coming fast and furious. Our players put their newly acquired skills to good use and gave the Stars all they could handle. Lachlan G was very excited to take home player of the game in Lucan for his hard skating persistent work ethic, while Owen M, the road warrior  received player of the game honours in Parkhill for his relentless efforts and bulldog hockey stance!

Team White played Team Green on back-to-back Sundays over the Christmas break. Bragging rights were on the line as the teams tangled in a spirited affair in game 1. Emma G, Sofie P and Lillian M gave Team Green fits with their hard skating and puck carrying skills. Winston F and Grant H let loose their booming shots which make opposing goaltenders cringe. Mason C skated home with player of the game honours for his positive attitude and hard work.

In the rematch, both teams employed a more defensive structure, making chances were harder to come by. Owen G, Logan P and Brooke H were flying all over the ice chasing down loose pucks. Inclement weather cancelled our scheduled game in early January, however it allowed us to have a 3rd straight game vs. Mite Green. With both teams having short benches it was a see-saw battle, with Sophia S, Lucie R and Elliot H taking advantage of the extra ice time and buzzing hard in all three zones. Each player was anxious to have a turn in net and relished the opportunity to deny the Mite Green snipers.

Last Sunday took us on the road for an afternoon matchup with the Jets of Illderton. Maybe it was the extra warm up our kids had during their public skating, or the afternoon start time, but Team White were fired up! The near capacity crowd was buzzing right from the opening puck drop and on the edge of their seats! John R had a whale of a game, carrying the puck with great confidence and scoring a hat trick! Great job John! Elliot H had an amazing day in goal for Team White, stopping chance after chance and numerous breakaways, seemingly with eyes in the back of his head! Owen M and Lucy R also made some tremendous saves, while helping our defence by also clearing the rebounds right out of our zone! Aiden S, Sofie P and Sophia S all played hard, worked together and took turns at each position. It was a such an exciting game and the kids played so hard, that three players of the game were awarded! Elliot H for his Veznia-like goaltending and never quit attitude, John R for his hard skating and heads-up play, and Scott D for his perseverance, determination and hard work. A great game by all and a sign of big things to come!

The kids are improving by leaps and bounds, and having lots of fun! Some tough games are ahead of us, as we tangle with Exeter & Zurich several times over the coming weeks. The kids are up to the challenge, Go White Go!
