Silver Stick Champions!
Lucan Novice Rep made Lucan proud by going to Parkhill Regional Silver Stick and coming home champions.

The competition was very stiff for the Lucan boys and it would take everything they had to succeed in this tournament. The team motto has been "TEAMWORK" since day one and the boys took another giant leap forward this week.  Every single player played a huge part of the success of the team.

Lucan would start off against East Lambton and was in for a hard fought game against some amazing goaltending, the boys would squeak out a 4-3 victory.

Next up Lucan would face Delhi and got off to a great start leading 4-0 through the first two periods.  Delhi was a very strong opponent though and would not give up, scoring 4 unanswered goals and putting the boys on their heels.  Lucan escaped with a 4-4 tie.

Plattsville was the opponent for game three and the boys played a solid team game; great defense, goaltending and offense.  4-1 was the final score with Lucan boys in control of the game from the drop of the puck.

Lucan and Delhi would be tied after the round robin and it went down to the 4th tie breaker, Lucan would be 1st place in their division because they scored a goal three seconds faster than Delhi did.

Semi Finals were up next with Lucan playing Aylmer.  Something special would happen in the next two games, for how good the boys have played this entire season, the boys brought it to a new level.  Alymer was a very strong opponent and it took every ounce of energy from our boys to shut down the Alymer stars.  Alymer got off to a 1-0 lead but this didn't faze the boys.  Lucan would score 4 unanswered goals and would win the game 4-1 earning a berth in the finals against their fiercest rivals North Middlesex Stars.

In the finals, TEAMWORK was on display again.  The Stars are a great team and Lucan has been in many battles this year already with them.  From the drop off the puck Lucan would match skill and effort with their rivals, with each team playing great smothering defense.  Lucan would get out to a 1-0 lead and then added some insurance minutes later.  The stars were not going down without a fight and would score on a 5-3 power play to bring the game within one.  The equalizer would come with 7:45 left in the third perod, but the boys were still feeling confident.  They would continue to play great and with 2:54 they would take the lead.  The last 2:54 seemed like an hour but the whole time the boys played their game and never gave North Middlesex a chance to get the equalizer.

Great job boys, the coaching staff is very proud of each and every one of you.  Your commitment to this team has made you all champions.

Please join me in wishing this great group of boys much success when they represent Lucan at the International Silver Stick in St. Clair Shores on January 23rd weekend
