Friday Night Road Game
Mite Green travels to Ilderton to take on the Jets

Game time was set for 5pm and the Green squad was prepared for the drop of the puck after a short pre-game skate.

Right off the initial face off Lucan put the pressure on the Jets and it didn't let up until the final buzzer. The Irish team was keeping the game simple by getting the puck in deep and forechecking hard.
There were a few individual highlights during this contest but what stood out most was the team play that this group has learned is a valuable part of the game, as the Irish took the victory 10-1.

The passing was incredible and their heads were up just searching for an open skater to feed the puck to. There were many unselfish plays with the puck deep in the offensive zone which lead to a balanced score sheet.

Two Irish players were the recipient of such unselfish plays when Grayson P. accepted a pass from behind the net and he wristed a bullet one timer from deep in the slot behind the Ilderton netminder, that caused the Booster club to jump to their feet.
Shortly before Grayson's first, was another solid effort when Lane H. was aggressive in the Jets zone and picked up a loose puck off a teamate and made no mistake picking the short side corner and burying his first of the season, that once again brought all the visiting parents to their feet. By the way both of these skaters reacted to their goals, it leads me to believe the monkey is off their backs and I feel a scoring streak coming on!!

One other Irish player came within inches of making the scoreboard and she was instrumental at keeping the puck in deep and for her hard play Josselyn V. was awarded the "Hardest Worker" honors.

We are back on the road tomorrow at 11:30am when we travel to St.Marys.

Go Irish!!
