Mite White, U7, 2011-2012 (Lucan Minor Hockey)

Lucan Mite White had a fitting end to the season with a commanding 7-1 win over Ilderton and a 6-6 tie with their cross-town practice-mates, the Mite Green team. The teams has shown great growth during the year, with some of the second year players blossoming into leaders and the younger boys and girls, some of whom could barely skate at the start of the year, making important contributions to our games.

Lucan Mite White played a couple of strong games during a March Break tournament in St. Marys on March 14. The first game was a 7-2 win against Belmont. Strong backchecking, puck control and some nice passes meant Lucan was in control from early on in the game. The second game was a close loss 6-4 to Embro. 

Lucan's Mite White team took on St. Marys early Saturday morning on March 10 and St. Marys came out on top, winning the game. There was some pre-March Break sluggishness on the part of both teams, but there was also some great end-to-end rushes and exceptional saves which had parents cheering.

Lucan Mite White's team passing is looking great, with some excellent set ups during an 10-3 win against Zurich on March 3 in Lucan. The early morning didn't seem to phase Lucan's girls and boys as they backchecked hard and tried more passing plays than they have before. It was good to see some unselfish plays where one teammate passed it to another to put them in on a breakaway. There were also some good passes in front of the net to teammates, as the players are learning the value of spreading out, especially in the other team's end. With a excellent road game, Lucan White is on a roll. On Sunday Lucan rolled in Zurich hungury for a win. With our power forward looking for for her first goal of the year, it only took the promise of hot dogs after the game to get Grace C. on the hunt. With excellent passing from her Team Mates, Grace C. was able to BLAST a puck past the Zurich goalie.Tyler F. scored a season high goal performance and constantly back checked Zurichs top forwards to insure a win.
