Lucan Green has busy Christmas Holiday
Over the Christmas holidays Lucan played 7 great games.

First game of the holidays was a Sunday trip to St. Mary's to take on St. Mary's 2. This was a great matchup with the St. Mary's team. Bobby McBean was between the pipes and had to face many shots and was up for the task. St. Mary's got on the board first and at the end of the period it was 1-0. Lucan responded early in the second on a goal from Carter L. with assists going to Dylan F. and James V.  St. Mary's would score the next goal with 35 seconds to play in the second period and Lucan saw themselves down 2-1 going into the third. It didn't take long for Lucan to tie it up 8 second into the third Dylan F. tied the game at 2's. St. Mary's would regain the lead a couple minutes later and add one more. Lucan had no response to these goals and would lose the game 4-2. All players were given the player of the games and all recieved some pre-Christmas treats.

Lucan came back from Christmas vacation and was ready to go. Lambton Shores was visiting Lucan and the Green team scored early and often. Dylan F. put Lucan up 1-0 fourteen seconds into the game on a pass from Tyler F. Tyler F. would make it 2-0 nothing on a pass from Dylan F and then Lucan would make it three nothing when Carter H. buried home a pass from James V.  Lucan had a great team effort in this game. Goalie Bobby M. was on fire and made lots of great saves. Defense was shutting down the Predators the whole game, and defensemen Joel M. would also get a goal to make it 4-0. Carter H. would finish off the scoring for Lucan and in the end the Lucan team would win a 5-0 game. Player of the game went to Bobby M. who earned the shutout for the Green team.

Lucan then took part in the Hawks Tournament in Mitchell. Up first for Lucan was BCH.  Lucan would dominate the game from the drop of the puck to the final game. Lucan has really been playing like a team lately and the passing, fore-checking and back-checking has been really impressive. Lucan was too much for BCH and won the game 8-0. Goals went to Dylan F.(3), Ben F.(2), Tyler F.(2), and Gordon L., Assists went to Carson V.(2), Joel M.(2), Tyler F., Dylan F., Carter L. Gordon L. Mason G.  and Aiden M. James V. would earn the shutout for Lucan. Player of the game went to Ben F. who potted 2 goals and played a great two way game. Awesome work Ben!

Lucan had Dorchester Dragons up next and Lucan just kept on the gas. This game was great for the Green team. Matched against the strong Dorchester team, Lucan would dominate the play yet again. The teamwork of the guys was remarkable. Carter L. started off the scoring on a pretty tic-tac -toe play, with the assists going to Dylan F. and Tyler F..  Dorchester would quickly reply; knotting the game up at 1's.  Lucan would regain the lead on a goal from Dylan F., with assists going to Tyler F. and Joel M.  The second period would be much of the same for Lucan. Tyler F. would make it 3-1 on a pass from Dylan F. and minutes later Tyler would make it 4-1 on an unassisted goal. Dorchester would make it 4-2 but Lucan would respond one minute later on a great effort by Carter H. The third period would be a scoreless draw and Lucan would win the game 5-2. James V. was solid in net again for Lucan and he would earn the Player of the game. Great work James.

Friday morning would see Lucan take on Blyth-Brussels. Lucan was rolling in the tournament and there was no stopping them in this game. Three minutes in Dylan F. would give Lucan the lead. At the end of the first it was 1-0 Lucan. In the second period Lucan would get a goal from Tyler F. on a pass from Dylan F..  Carter L. was next on the goal train on a pass from Dylan F.  At the end of the second period Lucan was up 3-1. Ben F. was next in line to bulge the twine on a rebound goal. Dylan F. and Carter L were in on the assists.  Dylan would finish off the scoring on a great passing play.   Ben F. would pass to Carter L. who made a wonderful pass to Dylan F.   It must be said the defense pairings of Joel M., Aiden M., Carson V., Bobby M. and Carter L. were on their game the whole tournament, limiting shots from the opponents and getting the puck up to the forwards and keeping the puck in the offensive zone. Great work guys you have improved so much. Player of the game for Lucan was Dylan F. who had a solid game and made of number of great passes. Keep it up Dylan!

Lucan was now off to the championship game against St. Mary's 1. This was another hard fought battle against a great team. Lucan would play the St. Mary’s team tough the whole game. The first period was a back and forth game with Lucan just missing on a couple chances to take the lead. At the end of one period it was a scoreless draw. Lucan would continue their strong play in the second but St. Mary's would burst the shutout halfway through the period and score another quick one to make it 2-0. St. Mary's would score a power play goal to make it 3-0 at the end of 2 periods. Ther was not quit in Lucan and they fought hard in the third as well;  limiting the number of chances St. Mary's would get. With St. Mary's up 4-0 Carter H. would get Lucan on the board by going to the net and burying the rebound. Assist went to Tyler F. and Bobby M.  St. Mary's would score once more to make it 5-1. The boys can hold their heads high though, they played an great game and a couple bounces and this game could have been different. Regardless the coaching staff is very proud of the team you played like champions the whole tournament. Such great team work guys, Lucan would get goals from seven different players in the tournament, and all fowards and defense registered atleast one point, another great accomplishment team.  Player of the game went to Carter H. who had a great game and tournament for Lucan. Great work Carter!

To finish off the holidays Lucan had a Sunday matinee against Mt. Brydges Gold. Looking to continue their great player Lucan played this game with ALOT of intensity. Rumour was there was a little trash talking before the game and the boys were ready to show how good they can play. Lucan would take the lead early on a goal from Dylan F. assists going to Tyler F. and Carter L.  Carter H. would make it 2-0 on a nice breakaway goal with Ben F. being credited with the assist. Gold would cut the lead in half before the end of the period and at the end of one it was 2-1 Lucan.  Dylan would make it 3-1 scoring on a breakaway deke; Carter L. and Gordon L. were in on the assists. Carter H. would make it 4-1 on a slick move beating the goalie on another breakaway goal. Dylan F made it 5-1 on a goal mouth scramble. Rounding out the scoring was Tyler F. on yet another breakaway goal. Assist went to Dylan F. and Gordon L. Carson V. was great between the pipes allowing just the one goal and making a bunch of key saves. Player of the game went to Aiden M. who had by far his best game of the year on defense. Aiden was battling for the puck the entire game, passing the pucks to the forwards, back-checking and keeping the puck in the offensive zone. That was a great game Aiden!

All the boys were 4 dollars richer in chocolate coins for have zero off-sides.  Great work team!

The boys should be very proud of how much they have improved, they have really come together as a team and they are a delight to coach, keep playing hard team.
