Individual awards

Carter Hamilton: The only returning player from our team, Carter was one of three players to play in every game this year.  He was also the first at every practice and showed a very keen desire to play the game.  One highlight from the season for Carter was his goal against Belmont in the 4th game of the series, we were down 1-0 and we had nothing going, Carter’s individual effort and determination resulted in scoring the goal to tie up the game and from that moment on we never trailed in the series again

Shane Doan Award for Dedication

Gordon Loney:  This was Gordon’s year of organized hockey and what a great season for Gordon.  The very first practice I was helping Gordon with a drill, and I said to Gordon can you try this and Gordon response was I will try whatever you ask me cause I want to play in the NHL.  Gordon has a wonderful attitude and has improved so much.  My highlight for Gordon and probably most of the team was Gordon’s First and second goal of the year in the game against Mt. Brydges Gold.  Gordon would continue to score key goals for us including 1 against Dorchester in our 3-3 game.

Gary Roberts Award for Rookie of the year

Aiden Marrinan:  Aiden had a wonderful year for the Green Machine, once he was a full time defensemen really came into his own.  Aiden was one of two players to have a penalty free year, that is a great accomplishment  Aiden.  My favorite memory of Aiden was the smile on his face when he scored his first goal of the year in the Sarnia game against Lucan White.

Pavel  Datsyuk award for sportsmanship

Mason Gatt: My first impression of Mason was he was a quiet boy and then I watched him in Wiarton doing back flips in the pool and hooting and hollering with the boys.  Mason was a sturdy defense and winger for our team.  My favorite moment for Mason was the Sunday of the Olympic Hockey gold medal game where Mason buried his first goal of the season.

Award is Darius Kaspiritis award for Tough and aggressive play regardless of size

Carter Lawrence had a solid year for us, he did every single thing the coaches had asked of him, Carter could be counted on to score a big goal, set up his lines mates or go play the point and shut the other team down.   One of Carter’s best game of the year came in the playoffs against Mt. Brydges Blue.   Carter would register 3 Assists in this game and 2 of those assist would be part of some beautiful tic tac toe goals.  Great year Carter

Wendel Clark Award for team play and hard-nosed winger

Ben Feddema:  Ben worked his butt of this year for our team, he was always hounding the puck and would never give up.  I have two highlights for Ben’s year first would be his two goal game against BCH in the Mitchell Tournament and secondly his hard work in the second game in the playoff against Dorchester.  Down 3-2 with only seconds  Ben would pick the pocket of a Dorchester player and pass it to Dylan who was all alone.  That goal in hindsight was a huge play, one of a many plays that made us champions.

Kris Draper for hard work and dedication

Joel Morrision:  Joel is a tremendous defencemen who has the ability to shut the other team down one minute and then grab the puck and go end to end the next.  Joel is a wonderful kid to coach and rarely makes the same mistake twice.  He has loads of hockey sense.   Joel really drove a lot of the offense for our team by making the great first pass, although those assists did not always make it on the score sheet, they were very key to our success, no more key then in Game 4 against Belmont his pass with seconds remaining in the game allowed us to win the game and claw back into the series

Nicholas Lidstrom for team leadership and defensive prowess

Tyler Fedyk: Tyler could be counted on to provide us with offense when we needed it the most, Tyler is  a speedy winger that would be back in his own end helping his defense and goalie.  Ty’s best game of the year was his 5 goal game against Parkhill in the Parkhill tournament, but his most important goal of the year was in game 6 of the Belmont series getting us out to the early lead.

Jarri Kurri Award for offensive Prowess

James Vanestte:  Had a spectacular season, James had an unbelievable goals against average of 2.36 for the year.  Down the stretch James kept us in many of the games by making a key save and also stole a couple games for us.  James ended the season with 5 shut outs.  James was a key contributor to so many of our victories that I can’t pick one key moment, it was great to watch him transform into such a confident goaltender

Martin Brodeur Award for ultimate goaltending

Carson Vidler:  Carson began the year as both a goalie and a defenseman, although successful in goal winning record after 7 games Carson chose to pursuit defense and the second half of the season Carson really improved and was a key piece of the shutdown crew of Carson and Bobby.  Carson became very proficient at keeping the puck in the offensive zone, in his own end he would battle hard against the opposition and sometime use his body to win those battles which would explain the 14 minutes in penalties.  Although Carson is a stay at home defensemen he did show off his offensive skills in Wiarton, scoring a beautiful goal against the Bruce Peninsula team, but more often than not Carson could be counted on keeping the forwards to the outside, blocking shots and moving the puck up to the forwards, three key ingredients to a great defensemen

Scott Stevens Award for hard nose defensive play

Bobby McBean:  Bobby never missed a game all year; he began the year as both a defenceman and goalie and excelled at both.  Bobby’s booming shot and determination to get the puck makes him great defensemen.  Bobby makes up the Left side of the towers of power keeping those pesky forwards away from our net. I have a favorite game and a moment for Bobby, the game was against mt. brydges Blue in January and Bobby was in net, and he was absolutely on fire we must have been outshot by 20 shots but Bobby made save after save and allowed us to win a game we have no business winning, and my favorite moment for Bobby is his end to end rush Bobby Orr style in the Parkhill consolation championship game.

Ray Bourque Award for smooth defensive play

Dylan Fischer:  Dylan was another kid that never missed a game.  Dylan had a knack for starting the scoring early in game and getting us out to a lead.   Dylan could also be counted on to get back and help out in the defensive zone.  Dylan’s best game of the year was the first game against Belmont in the final leading us to a 4-3 victory but my favorite moment would be the game winner in Game 6 finally ending the hard fought series.

Stevie Yzerman award for leadership and offensive expertise

What a great season guys, enjoy your summer!
