Waterloo Challenge Cup Tournament
Our U13 Girls Team took to the ice in the Waterloo Ravens Fall Challenge Cup Tournament November 3-5.

Game 1 Friday morning matched us up against the Etobicoke Dolphins. Our Girls came out flying and held the territorial and shot advantage all game long, however the Dolphins Goalie stood tall and held off the Lucan snipers time & time again, until the late stages of the 3rd when finally a blast from the point found the net and Lucan skated away with a well earned 1-0 win.

Game 2 Friday afternoon drew the Whitby Wolves, who took an early 1-0 lead. Our Girls pushed back right away, firing shot after shot at the Whitby net but denied repeatedly to the extreme. Finally in the last minute with our Goalie pulled for the extra attacker, a great rush and quick shot finally solved the Wolves Goalie and we finished in a 1-1 tie.

Saturday morning's action started bright & early versus Markham-Stouffville Stars. A power play goal in the 2nd period got the ball rolling for the Irish, and we got better from there, peppering their Goalie with a barrage of shots and chances to skate away with a 4-0 victory.

Game 4 saw our Girls square off against a big & strong North Halton Twisters Team. The Twisters came out fast & furious, jumping to an early 2-0 lead, but our Girls answered right away to narrow the deficit to one. The physical battles carried on all game long, with our Team throwing everything we had at the North Halton net, close calls galore, right down to 6 attackers in the very last seconds, but we were unable to get the equalizer and took the 2-1 loss.

Our two wins & a tie in round robin play gave us 5 points, but we were edged out of a birth in the semifinals by both Whitby & North Halton, who finished with 6 points each.

The level of competition at this tournament was intense, with practically every Team leading or near the top of their respective regular season divisions. Our Lucan Girls scored 7 Goals and allowed only 3 against in four games versus some of the best U13A Teams in the province. Although we didn't make it to Sunday, our Girls represented extremely well and had a great weekend of hotel and hockey fun!

Congratulations to the eventual winners, the Central York Panthers.
Thanks for all the Fan support & encouragement, and to the Waterloo Ravens for hosting us!
Next up, 7 regular season games until Christmas, then we invade Sarnia in January to defend our crown at the Girls Silver Stick tournament!
See you at the Rink!
