A solid win against Ilderton
It was a story of two short-handed teams, but the hard-working Tyke Gold team from Lucan prevailed Dec. 2 against Ilderton Gold.
Lucan was down two players, one planned and one due to a pre-game illness so there was lots of doubleshifting and ice time to go around. All the Lucan players gamely played their double shifts, and they looked like they were having fun doing it.
Lucan controlled much of the play and helped protect goalie Katie D. Katie played well in her first game in net, transferring her usually enthusiastic play to net by rushing out to cover pucks and aggressively steering pucks away from the net.
The desire of the Lucan players to backcheck was amazing and they caught several Ilderton players on breakaways, keeping the game in hand.
Ryder O had several goals for Lucan, but also worked hard on his passing to get pucks to his teammates.
Kaiden W stayed with the puck in front of the net to whack in a rebound, while other goals were contributed by Ben F and Mitchell B. Mitchell's goal was scored on a nice pass from Sadie L who got the puck after some good checking by Gilvan G. popped the puck loose.
There was some great heads-up passing during the game by Lucan players.
