November 1 & 2, 2013 – Atom AE Cougar Challenge Tournament
Lucan AE were ready to play some hockey as they headed to the Atom AE Cougar Challenge this weekend. They were set to face off against the Dorchestor Dragons who may have thought that the Lucan AE team would be an easy win. Were they mistaken! Lucan AE pushed the Dragons making them skate hard for the puck. Despite their efforts, the Dragons were able to slip one past our goalie late into the first period following it up with a few more hard shots on net. Lucan continued to fight, landing a beautiful rebound goal in the back of their net early into the final period. Congratulations to our game MVP Brenden D. who played an AWESOME defensive game, successfully and consistently back checking, holding the line and protecting our goalie!

Regardless of the hour, Lucan AE took to the early morning ice to challenge their host the Mount Brydges Cougars. Despite all of the penalty minutes collected by both teams, Lucan AE found some time to play some competitive hockey. It was a back and forth game with numerous rushes up the ice. A beautiful goal early in the third was just not enough to clench the win. Garren W. put on a spectacular display of talent, showcasing his offensive power, great skating and passes out in front of the net. This, as well as his aggressiveness earned him the title of game MVP.

For those who decided against making the drive to Komoka this morning...you made a BIG mistake! The fans were on the edge of their seats as they witnessed, and you could feel the electricity on the ice as the boys played,THE BEST GAME to date! What a spectacular display of teamwork, confidence and a pure love for the game! Although the scoreboard read 1-1, the boys knew that they just put forth a close to perfect performance. Matthew S. played his best game of the season pounding the net, collecting his rebounds and forcing the turn over. His breakaways and power earned him the title of game MVP.

Congratulations Lucan AE, I hope that you had as much fun playing the game as your fans did watching you. Great work to our tournament MVP Jared C. who help keep the puck out of the net and played some of his best hockey...so close to a shut out.

Keep it up Lucan AE...what a weekend!
