Lucan Tyke Gold
Lucan Tyke Gold was in action again this past Saturday, January 9th as we hosted the Cougars from Mount Brydges.

This marked our first meeting of the season against the Cougars and Team Gold was anxious to leave an imposing first impression! The Tykes got back into their normal practice routine the night before, with extra emphasis on our breakouts, which paid dividends right away as the troops came out flying from the first puck-drop! The puck never seemed to be in our end for very long before the defense were passing it up to the forwards, who in-turn did their job getting the puck into Mount Brydges’ end.

Our defense were short one player, but Jacob Gillard, Lachlan Gilcrest and Ethan Lambourn did a great job as always defending our end. As well as helping the offense by holding the offensive blue line time & time again, keeping the puck in and the pressure on! Colin Dalton made his season debut in net for Team Gold and stood tall, kicking out shot after shot and smothering any rebournds. Our forward unit was also short one player, necessitating some extra hard skating for forwards Kohen Wickens, Brycen Watson, Roman “Man of Steel” Chalmers, Sofie Pearn and John Robson. This group met the challenge head on and played terrific, creating chances and firing shots from all angles! John Robson skated like a man possessed, with a strong sense of determination and purpose! The coaching staff from Mount Brydges even complimented our players on their hard work and never quit attitude. Everyone agreed this was one of our best games of the year! Great job Team Gold!

Our Positional Player and Thinker of the Game Award went to defenseman Lachlan Gilcrest, who played his defense position very well and was thinking to make good plays all over the ice. Great job Lachlan! For his ferocious skating and hard work, right winger John Robson was awarded the SuperSport Player of the Game! Great work Johnny! Keep up the great effort!

Team Gold’s next action is Sunday, January 10th when Point Edward comes to Lucan. Go Gold Go!
