Lucan Tyke Gold
Lucan Tyke Gold was in action again this past Sunday, January 17th as we hosted South Huron White.

This was our first meeting of the season against the White Sabers. Team Gold was well rested and ready to drop the puck on the 2nd half of our season. Things got off to a great start for Lucan as we scored four minutes into the game to take the early lead.

Bryce Robichaud made his season debut at center, flanked by speedsters Sofie Pearn & Emma Genttner. This grind-line was in the offensive end & parked in front of the net all game, pouring on the pressure and swarming the Saber defenders. Lachlan Gilcrest made his season debut at left wing and looked right at home, centered by Roman Chalmers with John Robson on the right. This newly formed trio had some instant chemistry, skating hard and giving the Sabers fits all game. Our defense featured a 3-man crew with Brycen Watson, Jacob Gillard and Ethan “Knuckles” Lambourn patrolling the back end. The boys did an excellent job of protecting our net, clearing loose pucks and making a good 1st pass out of our end. They also contributed offensively, with Brycen Watson continuing his recent hot streak recording his first 2-goal game of the season!

Kohen Wickens was between the pipes and was rock solid all game, challenging the shooters, smothering rebounds and stopping every shot that came his direction to record Team Gold’s first shutout of the season! The boys & girls excitedly counted down the final seconds on the clock to mark their first win of the season! Then proceeded to charge off the bench, tackle Kohen in a big pile up and congratulate each other on the big game. Smiles all around and the crowd went wild!

Our Positional Player and Thinker of the Game Award went to centerman Bryce Robichaud, for his net-front presence, paying attention & asking good questions on the bench. Great job Bryce! For his hard skating, perseverance and always upbeat, fun-loving and positive attitude, Roman Chalmers was awarded the SuperSport Player of the Game! Great work Roman! Keep up the terrific work!

Team Gold’s next action is Saturday, January 23rd at 1pm versus the East Lambton Golden Eagles. Go Gold Go!
