Lucan Tyke Gold hit the ice again this past Saturday,
January 23rd as we locked horns with East Lambton Gold.
This game marked our first meeting of the season versus the Eagles. Lucan has been enjoying our recent home stand, as well as the early afternoon matinée start time for this game. The boys & girls were chomping at the bit to drop the puck! The two teams were evenly matched, with neither surrendering an inch of ice in the early going.
Roman Chalmers reported for duty at centerice, accompanied by his trusty wingers Sofie Pearn & Emma Genttner. Kohen Wickens also lined up at his usual centerice position, flanked by John Robson & Lachlan “Bull in a China Shop” Gilcrest. Each line was playing their position, skating hard and generating scoring chances. Their hard work paid off as Kohen buried a rebound to get team Gold on the board. It was so fun their line decided to do it again and snipped another goal less than one minute later! The bench erupted in cheers with pats-on-back all around.
The Big 3 on defense, namely Jacob Gillard, Brycen Watson and Ethan Lambourn, played their usual rock-solid game, clearing pucks, snuffing out Eagle attacking rushers and contributing offensively. Colin Dalton was back in net for the Gold guys and played great, flashing the leather and turning aside numerous point blank chances. The game was a see-saw affair with both teams gunning hard and trading chances. Our forwards continued to fly around in the offensive zone pressing for the equalizing goal. Kohen found the back of the net yet again to snip his first hat trick of the season! Great job Kohen’s line! Roman’s line followed suit shortly after, with Sofie & Emma creating a turn over and feeding a nice pass to a streaking Roman in the slot, who calmly buried it top shelf for his first goal of the season! Great job Roman’s line!
Our Positional Player and Thinker of the Game Award went to Kohen, for his positional play and backing up his teammates. Keep up the good work #29! For her hard skating, perseverance, aggressiveness and bravery on the ice, Emma was awarded the SuperSport Player of the Game! Great job and keep up the terrific work Emma!
Team Gold is in action again this coming Sunday, January 31st at 8:30am versus rival Ilderton Jets White. Go Gold Go!
