Lucan Tyke Gold was in action again this past
Sunday as we hosted Ilderton Tyke White.
The boys and girls continue to enjoy our recent stretch of home games, as the White Jets came to town for the first time this season. Lucan Gold was excited to end the month on a positive note, and their engines were firing on all cylinders right from the first shift.
Team Gold’s defensive pairings of Brycen Watson & Bryce Robichaud, along with Jacob Gillard & Ethan Lambourn continued their rock solid play and each pair worked together in tandem to successfully defend our end. They’ve each also been giving the other teams fits with their ability to hold the offense blue line and keep the pressure on, great job D’men!
Our forward line with left winger Lachlan Gilcrest, centerman Kohen Wickens & right winger John Robson have formed great chemistry & cycle the puck down low like excited water bugs. Our other forward unit with LW Sofie Pearn, C Roman Chalmers and RW Emma “Tiger” Genttner, were jumping on loose pucks & busting through defenders like it was going out of style. Each line skated hard, worked together & helped our defence too. And each line was rewarded by lighting the lamp several times, including Emma, spurred on by her boisterous cheering section in the crowd, with her first goal of the year! And it was a beauty! Great job forwards!
Colin Dalton was in the Golden net again and stood tall as always, with the eyes of an eagle and reflexes of a cat! Colin’s great goaltending, combined with our burly defensive corps & speedy forwards helping out in our end, equaled a win for Team Gold on this day!
Our Positional Player and Thinker of the Game Award went to….every player! As each member of our team played great positionally and were thinking both on the bench and while on the ice too. Keep up the good work everybody! For his leadership, hustle & positive attitude, Jacob was awarded the SuperSport Player of the Game! Terrific work Jacob! Keep it up!
Team Gold’s next action on Wednesday, February 10th when we hit the road to battle East Lambton. Go Gold Go!
