Lucan Tyke Gold hit the ice on Wednesday
night as we traveled to Watford to rumble the East Lambton Eagles.
A short lineup provided the opportunity for the Gold players to play some different positions throughout the game. The boys and girls took the line juggling in stride and relished the chance to double shift now and again too. Forwards John Robson, Kohen “King of the Jungle” Wickens, Emma Genttner, Roman Chalmers and Sofie Pearn did a great job hustling after the puck, clearing our zone and generating chances. John was especially impressive when he got his chance to play center, skating with fierce determination! Kohen led by example with his hard skating, making smart plays and hustling back to help in our end. Defenseman Jacob Gillard and Ethan Lambourn logged big minutes on the back end, helped out by a few of their friends from the forward group.
Our Goalie for this game was Lachlan Gilcrest, making his triumphant return to the crease with a bang! Lachlan was peppered with shots high & low and from all sides, however he stood his ground, helped his Defenseman and played terrific! He was even making saves after the whistle and with his helmet! Super job Lachlan!
A special thanks to all the parents who rushed after work & braved the wintery weather conditions to allow the kids to play. For his stellar play & hard work in net, along with his positive & friendly attitude, Lachlan was awarded the Hockey Hall of Fame Ambassador of the Game! Great job Lachlan keep up the good work!
Team Gold’s next game action is this coming weekend, as we march into Thedford for the Tyke tournament. Game times are Saturday at 9am & 1pm, Sunday at 11am. Go Gold Go!
