John Henry Memorial Tournament
With three games spanning over three days our Tyke Green was ready to roll
On Friday afternoon we were challenged to a fast paced hockey game against the Strathroy Rockets.
Standing in net for the second time this season was Lane H. who faced multiple shots and was thank full for the hustle back defence efforts as the shots came quick and often. Some stand out "D" on the day came for such players as Kyle V. Ethan H. and Owen C.
Our lone goal of the game came from one Cohen S. with an offensive rush that was a neutral zone brake out play started by Nate V.
This Game was close but in the end we came up short and did not come out on top of the score sheet.
For all of his hard work during the game Christian F. was rewarded with player of the game keep up the good work Christian!
Our Next Game was on Saturday against the Mount Brydges Cougars Blue, our team fought a hard battle against a much larger cougars team with Cash M. in net ready to take on the booming barrage of shots at he hands of the Cougars.
We managed to keep the game in check for the first 10 mins but soon after that we found ourselves having to work hard in the neutral zone and also in the defensive zone. Had it not been for the outstanding defensive performance of all of our players we would have found ourselves in a much more lopsided game.
Offensive rushes did not come often but when they did they were all quality opportunites rushes were had by Presley B., Nate V. and Cohen S.
Our lone goal of the game (the only goal the the cougars gave up in round robin play) came with a defensive zone break out play from Josselyn V. to Cohen S. who feed the puck to Lane H. who managed to break in alone and shoot the puck five hole beating the goalie.
This was a hard fought battle against a great team and our Tyke Green should be proud of their play even though we were not on the winning side of the score sheet
For his outstanding play in Goal Cash M. was rewarded with the player of the game.
Our last game was on Sunday morning against Ilderton Jets Blue who seemed to be a fairly even matched team that would allow us to show off all of our skills.
We started the Game of scoring a quick goal by Cohen S. assists going to Cash M. Then we went in to Defence mode with some strong plays down in our own zone along with some hard work on the boards from Spencer R. and allowing us to make so quick break out passes for Offensive Rushes By Christian F. Ethan H. and Colin W.
Our goalie of the day was Presley B. who stopped multiple Shots allowing us to keep the game in check
Our next goal came from Christian F. with that same stick on the ice play that has been starting to become a standard assists on the play going to Cash M. and Claire W.
From that point forward we started a seesaw battle exchanging goals our Next Goal Scorer was Drew K. with a slick move outwitting the goalie assists went to Cohen S. and Nate V. Once again we found our selves on an offensive rush from Cohen S. who pocketed his second of the game and Third of the tournament with assists going to Drew K. and Josselyn V.
Our Final Goal of the Game which proved to be the Game winner came from Lane H. who skated in and managed to squeeze one past the goalie short side just barely crossing the line assists went to Christian F for his second point of the game and Claire W. with her second assist of the game.
At the sound of the horn we were happy to come out on top for the win.
For his hard work and Goal scoring Lane H. was rewarded with the player of the game.
Great Job everyone on tyke Green we managed to work hard and have some fun against some REALLY GOOD teams. Your Coaches are very proud of your play and our positive attitude.
