Sarnia Sting Tyke Tournament Highlights!
The first weekend in December our team was invited by the OHL's Sarnia Sting
to participate in their exclusive four team Tyke tournament. Every player was super
excited by this honour and were pumped to be playing games just like they do in the OHL.
To kick the weekend off, thanks to the smart thinking of Gracie's Mom, the team headed to Sarnia a day early to prepare and develop stratagies for the tournament in the pool and at dinner at the Holiday Inn. For most of the players this overnight trip was a first in their early hockey careers. After a lengthy players only meeting (over pizza, chicken nuggest, etc), it was decided that the best way to gain the upper hand on our opponents was to drop cannonball after cannonball in the Holiday Inn pool. I'm happy to report that not a drop of water was left in the pool when the last player retired for the night.
Sunday morning came quick but not quick enough to take the energy out of the team. The sticks were taped and skates were sharpened as Lucan took to the ice. The roar of the crowd was deafening as Lucan skated their hardest against all four of their opposing teams. Although we came up short of winning the trophy, Lucan Irish Tyke White did win the hearts of many old and new fans alike with several Sarnia Sting players requesting autographs and tips from our players. Many great memories were also made as the team was able to take a dressing room tour of the Sting and I'm happy to report that not a Bee was stepped on during our tour. Phew!!! Our tournament ended with prime seats to watch the Sarnia Sting play the Windsor Spitfires. It was a great weekend of hockey and the team represented Lucan very well. Everyone should be proud.
